How to Reset a Firestick Remote — The Method

To reset an Alexa Voice Remote, hold the Left button, Menu button, and Back button simultaneously for 12 seconds. The LED on the remote will flash orange, then blue. Release the buttons and wait 5 seconds. Then hold the Home button to re-pair it.

Step-by-Step Reset Process

1

Unplug the Firestick

Unplug the power adapter from the mains and wait 30 seconds. This clears the Firestick's memory of the remote.

2

Remove the remote batteries

Take out the batteries from the remote and wait 30 seconds.

3

Reinsert the batteries

Put the batteries back in.

4

Hold Left + Menu + Back for 12 seconds

While the Firestick is still unplugged, press and hold the Left direction button, the Menu button (three horizontal lines), and the Back button all at the same time for 12 seconds. The LED will flash orange.

5

Plug the Firestick back in

Reconnect the power adapter and wait for the home screen to appear (about 60 seconds).

6

Hold Home button to re-pair

Once the home screen loads, hold the Home button on the remote for 10 seconds to pair it again.

This process is a factory reset of the remote itself — not the Firestick device. It clears all pairing information so the remote can be re-paired fresh.
