If your Firestick starts up but then gets stuck on the Amazon or Fire TV logo screen and doesn't progress to the home screen, it is usually a software or storage problem. Here's how to fix it.
1. Wait — It May Be Updating
If your Firestick has just received a software update, it may take several minutes on the logo screen while the update is applied. Wait at least 10 minutes before concluding something is wrong.
2. Unplug and Restart
Unplug the power cable completely. Wait 60 seconds. Reconnect the power. This forces a complete reboot and resolves many temporary boot issues.
3. Check the HDMI and Power Connections
A poor HDMI or power connection can prevent the Firestick from completing its boot sequence. Reseat both connections. Try a different HDMI port on your TV.
4. Recovery Reset via Remote
If the Firestick is completely stuck and you cannot access settings, you can initiate a recovery reset using the remote. On the remote, simultaneously hold the Back button + the right directional button for 10–15 seconds. A reset screen should appear. Select Reset and confirm. This will erase the device and return it to factory settings.
A recovery reset erases all installed apps, settings, and account information. You will need to set up the Firestick again from scratch after a reset.
5. Full Factory Reset via Settings
If you can briefly access the Settings menu during a restart, go to Settings > My Fire TV > Reset to Factory Defaults. Confirm and allow the process to complete. See our Firestick reset guide for full instructions.
6. Storage Full Issue
A Firestick with completely full storage may fail to complete a software update and get stuck on the logo screen. If the recovery reset allows the device to boot, immediately free up storage before attempting any updates.
